# Cohorts & grants

**Cohorts define who. Grants define what they get.**

A cohort is a saved condition over your community - "holds 10+ $TOKEN" - useful
on its own for lists, exports, and analytics.

**Granting** a cohort attaches what it confers (an existing Discord role).
That's the publish act: the next report starts auditing it, comparing
predicted eligibility with observed roles.

* Balances **sum** across a member's linked wallets.
* Editing a granted cohort recompiles its grants; ungrantable edits are
  rejected honestly, never left stale.
